End of August Updates

Image
Hello folks! Lawn Services were running just a bit behind (largely due to timing of weather events). A good cut and trim was completed just before our last weather event on the 27th. All is looking good. Gas Meter Exchange went off without a hitch on the 21st. I did have to meet with their reps again on the 28th so they could retake photos of work completed. Cardboard Box disposal continues to be an issue. Please be considerate of the community and take the tiny amount of time required to break down your cardboard boxes before tossing into the dumpster. Need a hand breaking stuff down? Give me a squawk. Our first 'Porch Party' event was held by Bethanie (unit #5) - folk seemed to enjoy and appreciate the space. As a reminder - we do not have any outlets on the front porch. If YOU are planning an event that uses the front porch into evening hours and happen to have the need, I'd be happy to run an extension cord out from my unit and ' loan you a cup or two' of el...

Gas Meter Exchange & August 10th Updates

Image
Gas Meter Exchange  (Hot Water Outage) On Friday 8/21/2020 Norwich Public Utilities will be on property to exchange gas meters. This will include shutting off furnaces and our water heater while the work is being completed. Work will take place between 08:00 and 12:00. All pilots will be re-lit when the work has been completed. I will be on hand to make sure all goes as it should. Please plan accordingly for showers and be as accommodating as you possibly can. Cold water washes for laundry, conserve on the night before as possible and be aware that hot water may be scarce on Friday morning! Feel free to email me directly for any concerns: pgoo9@mac.com Lawn Services Completed/Storm Debris/Bushes Lawn services were completed today, on schedule.  In order to complete, debris and tree fall from this last storm had to be removed. It turned out to be a much larger job than I anticipated - and would have been a large and unexpected bill if we had paid a contractor. I removed 5 ful...

Lawn Services and a lovely porch morning...

Image
Lawn is in the process of being taken care of today. Scheduled maintenance has been pretty close to perfection. At 10:00 am - still cool enough to enjoy a big cup of coffee on our lovely porch.

More art up, porch additions AND an Unwanted Visitor...

Visitor Ejected Robert in Unit #4 reported a sleepy little bat up in a corner near his back hallway door. Luckily, Jill in #3 has provided a nice butterfly net (behind the chair near HER back hallway door) for just such situations. (Thank you Jill!) The sleepy, fuzzy cutie was a little stubborn but with a some coaxing, I was able to get him first into the net and then released (panicked but unharmed - though a bit sun dazed) into the great outdoors. DO PLEASE check your windows to make sure that sashes have not dropped down creating an invite to critters. Also be aware, that doors propped open near sundown/sunset are a lovely invitation for these scary but helpful (...very big mosquito eaters) fellers to stop on in for a visit. I am not at all squeamish about bats and am happy to help a neighbor any time you are being dive-bombed. It IS however a good thing for all to know where the net is stored. Porch A second blue wicker chair (again, thanks to Jill) has been added to the front e...

Public Area Art & Lawn Services

Image
Lawn Services were completed again today (just about perfect timing at 9 days). 16 pieces of framed art and two mirrors have been placed in public areas for all to enjoy. Another 20 pieces are waiting to go up. The mirrors bounce light nicely in the front hallway. I'll be on the lookout for more to add and place strategically.
